GDPR Changes in 2018
As of May 25, 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be in full effect. Under its legislation, all EU residents’ Personal Identifiable Information (“PII”) will be protected and all businesses that process and house such data will be affected. Compliance is mandatory and severe fines of €20 million or 4% of annual global turnover (whichever is greater), are in place for those who do not meet the standards.
What This Means for Our SDK:
European Citizens have the right to review the key decisions being made to comply with the GDPR laws, as well as access to how their personal data can be used, shared or deleted accordingly.
To meet the GDPR Standard, we’ve updated the user consent which allows users to participate or decline data collection via the oneAudience SDK integrated into our app publishers’ mobile applications.
2. USER CONSENT
oneAudience has made all necessary changes to our SDK business model to ensure that our user’s privacy is being respected and compliance is met with the regulations in place.
The oneAudience SDK will present users with an updated End User License Agreement (“EULA”). The EULA clearly states the active collection of data and how oneAudience and our trusted partners will use the data. When an EU citizen opts into the data collection, oneAudience also complies with the General Data Protection Regulation that prohibits companies that deal with EU PII to transfer the data outside of the European nation.
If the user declines to participate, they will still be able to access the mobile application, but oneAudience will not collect the personal identifiable information.
After opting into the data collection, EU users have the right to update their Personal Information or choose to opt-out and have their active data deleted in a timely manner.
To ensure that the user has easy access to opt-out, oneAudience has provided clear instructions on the data removal process. The user has the option to reach out directly to oneAudience, re-set their mobile Advertising ID, or visit youradchoices.com/appchoices to execute the opt-out.
We’ve reviewed our current privacy notices to proactively follow the changes of the GDPR implementation.
The terms include the details below:
- What data is being collected after the user opts-in through the oneAudience SDK
- How the data is being used and distributed to data partners
- oneAudience responsibilities with the SDK functionality
Why It’s Important
The GDPR assures that EU users’ PII is being protected. It’s essential for oneAudience and our data partners to be compliant and ensure the rights of EU individuals, as well as provide transparency in how the data is being used.
Complying with the GDPR will guarantee user privacy and protection over unwanted personal data breaches. oneAudience prioritizes these regulations to protect the privacy and security of our users.
